This is part of a children's book that I am writing and illustrating. This particular illustration talks about somehow appreciating what we usually call the wrong turns of life. Things that didn't go as we expected them to, and places and situations we hadn't planned to arrive at.
Nourishing this kind of appreciation - for both the right and wrong turns of life - has given me a greater sense of meaning and direction when the waters of life are rough to navigate on.
Specifically about art and illustration technique, I feel that working with watercolor and allowing for the unpredictable twists and turns of water really ties in to that. And, of course, Rebelle is the perfect too for that kind of exploration.
