Brush loading, wet/dry brushing, and mixing palette questions

Hi all,

Hoping to get back to painting IRL soon. I like a lot of styles, but want to start with landscape. Here's an old 16x20 acrylic of mine of one of the styles I'd probably be starting with. I'd love to be able to use Rebelle to realistically plan out physical paintings.

I haven't used Rebelle much yet. I just got Rebelle 7 loaded up & am looking for a guide/tutorials to help me at least start with some things the way I used to use them for real.I finally installed 7 and am trying to figure out a few things. My tablet is a Bambu Fun.
Typically, I used acrylics, not too loaded, and just a few sizes of basic round & flat brushes.

This included a lot of wet-and dry-brushing.Sometimes a water spray bottle to wet an area to blend.

So, here are the main things I'm trying to figure out:

1) How to load my brushes so that they run out realistically & have to be reloaded?
2) How to simulate wet- and dry- brushing? By this I mean using a brush with little to no paint loading, and either using then with water only or dry to push paint around. When I tried using the sponge, the paint "jumps" toward the bristles rather than being only dragged by it.
3) How best to simulate a palette for loading/mixing. I saw a few people mention creating a separate layer

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @oandroido ,

1) By default, Rebelle brushes do not run out of paint but you can reveal the Length slider via the Properties panel menu > Show Sliders > Length:

This will add the Length slider to the Properties panel which determines when the brush preset runs out of paint.

2) You can either decrease the loading in the Properties panel or use directly the Water tool which only applies water, no paint.
To push paint around, we'd recommend using the Smudge tool as the Dry tool only removes the water from the canvas.

3) You can either use the Mixing Palette or create a separate layer with your color swatches.

Thank you!
I've also just discovered the brush "modes" in the bottom right and see that they can help with some of the same things.
