Mist

Hi there,

Is there a brush or technique to paint with mist? There's this beautiful (real) painting of Fairies dancing in the moonlight by August Malmström named "Älvalek" (Elf play)

I would like to be able to use a brush and paint them like the above example....the translucent parts as well the more detailed parts.
I'm a hobbyist and no expert...so please be gentle

-easy all in one would be to just use the airbrush
-Using traditional oil brushes I would be trying the glazing brushes with low opacity and blend them after each application
-alternative to glazing brushes would be to use a pastel brush and play with blending + opacity
