A- | A+

Dear readers, in today’s interview we’d like to introduce you a great concept artist and illustrator Harvey Bunda. Harvey calls himself an Advocate of the arts, and we couldn’t agree more. Why? Read on… image

Harvey, it is a great pleasure to speak with you. Would you be willing to answer some of our curious questions?

Sure thing!

Lately, we both have had a delightful experience with a world-renowned ImagineFX Magazine. Your „Journey of helios“ artwork has been featured greatly and Flame Painter has been reviewed brilliantly and got Artist’s Choice Award. What are your feelings about that?

I‘m very pleased with that feature. It got me pretty excited as well! It really can help to spread the word about our work. Flame Painter is one of my main effects arsenal when it comes to art. It is awesome in all aspects and always makes your painting pop out – I would call it the awesome tool! image

Let’s get back in time a bit… How did you first start growing interest in becoming a digital artist? What’s the story?

I was first a traditional painter (mainly from oil printing practices) and also worked as a comic book penciler throughout the years. When we had problems finding who would color my comic pages digitally, I decided to study digital painting. I figured out it‘s pretty easy as I have a lot of painting backgrounds from my traditional painting. That‘s why I always include the essence of the old tradition in my digital works.

How has your work developed throughout the years?

My works have been tremendously improved from being a traditionalist through a mixed digital/trad to being a pure „digitalist“ - especially with the help of Flame Painter. Having Flame Painter effects is like a trademark in my art. I put a lot of my effort into the composition of the entire painting as it is the most important essence of art.

We know you’re doing an amazing job with organizing artist events and workshops. Can you tell us more about it?

Oh yes, I was invited to conduct seminars about art, digital painting, character development by several colleges and organizations. I was lucky to lead seminars at the University of Santo Tomas, CSB Dela Salle University, St Scholastica, San Sebastian College, Fully Booked Fort Global and lately Mall Of Asia Arena, just to name a few.

Moreover, I also conduct my own seminars and online workshops (see video here). There is more information on our website - http://lucidworkshops.net/.

Could you tell us several good online resources for the digital artists you recommend visiting?

I would recommend a few anatomy websites I find very useful:

Is there anything you would like to say to the world?

I’d like to recommend for all beginning artists to study old master painters - you will learn the masterful strokes of art. We, the modern painters, are here just for inspiration. Study from the ground up - from the origins to the most recent. It will be an uncanny foundation for your creative endeavor. The foundation is everything.

Always create your masterpiece, never settle for anything less!

Thanks a lot for your time speaking with us. Have a great and creative day!
