How to do a graded wash ?

A graded wash is a basic watercolor technique. I have never been able to figure out how to do a graded wash in Rebelle. The problem is that overlapping parts of the stroke build up color, unlike what happens with a real brush. A second thing is I like to paint wet-in-wet. With real watercolors I can easily wet an area with a uniform color, then add in other colors, which will also blend in, or add additional color to make it darker, or blot with a thirsty brush to make it lighter, or .... The end result is an interesting blended area that is smoothly varying. The colors run together nicely. It stays wet long enough to get the effect I want. I cannot make that happen in Rebelle. If you put in reasonably smooth strokes in your graded wash, eventually the dark overlapping areas will diffuse, leaving it more or less uniform. The problem is at that point, adding a new shade will produce edges and other ugly artifacts. If you turn on Pause, it stays wet, but then it is still steaked, and you have to guess how colors will run together later. It doesn't help that the watercolor brush doesn't get very big. Typically one uses a large brush to do large graded washes, like a sky. I've tried lots of combinations of brush parameters, but have found nothing close to satisfactory. I also haven't had much luck with the new Visual Settings. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Same here. I've resorted to importing a gradient background. And i agree about the brush size. Please make them bigger, please.

I just used the defaut Flat brush (default watercolor settings except size of 100%), wet the layer, paused, used pressure and gently layered -- then unpaused with a slight downward tilt.

I made a quick video demo of how to: Inserting the media does not preview, so if it doesn't work here is a direct link:
