[SOLVED] Short cut mapping to tablet pen buttons

Hello, I'm using a wacom tablet with no screen, and I came from Rebelle from Clip Studio paint. One thing that is incredibly detrimental to my workflow and will make or break whether I continue to use this program is the color picker. In Clip Studio, I could press my pen button and instantly pick a color from my work or an imported reference image. Here the pen button when held simply moves the canvas. When I went into prefrerences and switched out "touch" on Move canvas to the Color picker tool (hold) it still moves the canvas. I have checked several times that it still says touch on the right shortcut, and have restarted the program several times. The other colorpicker tool will not let me choose single touch as an option at all despite me allowing single touch to be used in the preferences.
I have tried mapping the color picker to my tablet's buttons, only for the color picker to appear, and then force me to move my pen over and touch one of the tools or for me to have to use the keyboard to get the color picker to go away, whether I held it or not. I know it is possible in rebelle when using the x button shortcut for color picker, so the obvious solution is to change the X shortcut to my Pen button, but for some reason it just won't work.
This has been incredibly frustrating. I am impressed by the powerful ai behind the real time color mixing, and hope this probelm can be solved.

Could you clarify a few things: Are you making sure to remap the colour picker on both 'Tools' and 'Tools Hold'? Your second paragraph makes me think that it's only mapped on 'Tools' which is why it doesn't switch back. Also, can you not remap your pen on the tablet software, or can you remap it but it still doesn't work in Rebelle? In which case, does simply holding the X shortcut work as you want it to?
I too used to work on CSP and I've managed to get pretty much every tool feature from there working, so there's definitely a solution.

I set the front button on my wacom stylus in the Wacom Tablet Properties to "Alt" and I can hover over my Intuos in Rebelle and get the color picker. You should be able to do that if you are using a Wacom tablet. Good luck.

Hi @AsteraceaeOculus,
As @fanton and @michaelws wrote, it's certainly possible to get your requested behavior working in Rebelle. First, try to make it working just by pressing shortcuts on your keyboard. Then try to set those shortcuts in your Wacom tablet driver preferences.
When you open "Edit -> Preferences -> Keyboard -> Tools (hold)", you can find "Alt" and "I" set for the "Pick Color". The "I" shortcut is set for the "Pick Color Tool" also in the "Tools", so it behaves like this:
- When you hold "I" or "Alt", your current tool is changed to the color picker and when you release the shortcut, you get back your previous tool
- When you just type "I" (press it shortly and release it right after), your current tool is switched to the color picker and to get back to your previous tool, you need to press the shortcut for that particular tool.
- There is also the "X" hold shortcut you mentioned which switches to the color picker tool, but activates its color mixing mode, so instead of directly selecting a new color, that color is just mixed to the color you had previously.
So it's maybe better to set the "Alt" key (or "X" if you want mixing) instead of the "I" in your Wacom preferences for your pen button, so that you get the color picker tool always only while you hold the pen button.

I'm sorry but that doesn't actually answer the question.
I'm also finding it impossible to pick colors with the tablet pen button. There's no way to map this in Rebelle, and I'm certainly not going to change my entire tablet setup just for one program.
I was going to gift some friends this program while it's on sale, but this one massive oversight has made me change my mind. Most digital artists color pick with the tablet pen button, and most programs let you map this button. Unless Rebelle implements a way to do this, I'm afraid it'll continue to stay on the shelf of forgotten art programs.

I'm in agreement on this one. I'm using a Surface Pro 8 with the Slim Pen 2. CSP defaults to the side button 'colour picker' out-of-the-box.
The brush engine in Rebelle is amazing, being able to quickly colour pick just using the stylus would be perfect.
The side button can only 'move' the canvas, when using a touch screen this is not useful as I'm already using pinch-to-zoom.
Any solutions would be fantastic

Can you just change keyboard shortcut for color pick in rebelle settings? Try clicking your stylus button when assigning new shortcut?
If this is not possible, it definitely should be.
Anyway, I agree the default setting for stylus button should be color pick. If you are going to pan, you need zoom. So then you need to use either touch or keyboard anyway. I use a separate numpad keyboard for such things, and it is nice to have buttons for zoom, rotate & pan right next to each other.

I think the other posters are correct in that you may not have changed the shortcut for the tool(hold).
To make sure nothing is conflicting, I would just go under eydrop tool(shortcut) and delete the shortcut, then to to eye drop tool(hold) and change the eyedropper to "alt" if it isn't already. I would also go to move(shortcut) and make sure that is not "alt", and go to move(hold) and also make sure that is not "alt). You may have changed them unintentionally as I don't think the defaults for move were (alt).
I am also on a wacom tablet and it works fine for me, and I am also using Clip with the same exact settings for the eyedropper set to the side button on the pen.

I have the same issue here. In Clip I had my front button on my pen set to Undo but here in Rebelle I for the life of me cannot work out how to set this. Any help would be great .PPPLLLEEEAAASSSSEEEE. Cheers all.

Hi guys,
Always check what shortcut is set in Rebelle's Preferences for that action.
For 'Pick color' (switching to the tool while holding the shortcut=stylus button), it is 'Alt'.
For 'Undo', it is 'Ctrl+Z'.
By default, Wacom driver might have another shortcut mapped to that action in their settings. It is always necessary for those two shortcuts to match. You can map a separate shortcut per app in Wacom Preferences, so no need to change any workflow.
For pick color I have this in Rebelle:

and this in Wacom preferences:

To be able to pick colors on the move (no need to click on the color with the stylus), enable this option in Rebelle's Preferences (Don't need to confirm...):

ronan - When I set 'Undo' in Wacom settings for one of the stylus buttons, I am able to Undo in Rebelle without issues. Try to set it to Modifier and type in Ctrl+Z. Is it working better?
