Rebelle freezes when creating a mask layer

For some reason when I create a mask layer in Rebelle 6 it completely freezes up, the entire program becomes laggy to the point where i can't even press any buttons and when i attempt to click anything it does the "program has stopped responding" thing. Until i somehow manage to delete the layer, usually through undo. Then it becomes responsive again. Is this a known issue? If so, is there a fix?

Also this exclusively happens in Rebelle 6, it works fine in 5

The same issue here. Frustrating!
