Color switches from selected color to black without rhyme or reason

Rebelle version 6.1.4. (May have randomly happened with older release of Rebelle 6 as well...but wasn't as prevalent if it did.)
Windows 10 on a Wacom Mobile Studio (13).
Wacom Pro Pen
What only used to happen randomly but which is now happening almost constantly is I will choose a tool, choose a brush, set the brush properties and select a color. I start to use the color on a blank area, no problem. The moment I start to color on an area that already has paint on it the selected color goes to black. Nearly every time!!!
It makes the software nearly unusable! Any tool, any brush any way you choose the color (i.e., Color window, Color Set, or a mixing panel). It just seems to be happening all the time now where before it wasn't as often.
I don't know of anything on the tablet, software or hardware that has changed in the last several months other than the Rebelle 6 version. But even then, it was happening a lot even at Rebelle 6.0.1.
Suggestions??? I am completely out of ideas here. Well, actually just thought of one more thing I can try and that is to start from a brand new canvas taking all defaults. Although the only thing I changed on this current painting and the last one is that for this one I changed it to a plain paper rather than take the default paper. Surely that wouldn't have done it though, right??? First time I ever used the plain canvas paper but why would that have any effect on the color changing automatically?
HELP!

Thank you for contacting us. I am sorry you are experiencing these issues. Please try to run Rebelle with default settings, here's how:
1. Open Rebelle, go to the Main Menu > Help > Show Library Folder... - you will see the main Rebelle user folder
2. Close Rebelle but keep the folder opened
3. Rename Rebelle folder to any other name
4. Run Rebelle - you will be asked to register again, Rebelle will run with the default settings
5. Try to reproduce the issue in Rebelle with the default settings
How is it going?

hi, different user, same problem. Im in 5.1.4, using a huion kamvas under the microsoft ink setting
I forget why Im not using rebelle and then 15-20 minutes in this starts happening, its not even like a true black, its a deep gray, and yes it does happen with default settings. I reopened a file I had been working on and it seemed fixed for about a minute, before trying to draw over preexisting pigment lead to my color hard setting to that gray.
was really hoping there would be a solution here :(
I could try a fresh launch of rebelle again, on an untouched document, but if thats the only solution Im basically scrapping my old work

Hi Botanahazard,
I am sorry you have the same problem. Please send us the video of the issue: [url=mailto:

We hope this is just an issue of the settings, not a bug. Make sure to run Rebelle with default settings and the user interface is visible on the video.
Looking forward to your reply!

Hi Veronika.
I am also having this problem - wacom cintiq. Every single time I select a colour, it immediately discards it and resets to black as soon as I try to paint. I have just preordered 7 but this bug makes the trial version of 6 pro utterly unuseable. I shall send a video over to show the problem in case you didn't receive one from Botanahazard as it's an identical problem.

Rebelle 6 pro user and i have the exact same issue as well. Pretty easy to recreate.
Open a blank new document with no paper texture and set a base value of 50 with 0 saturation or hue.
Use virtually any tool / brush and make a few marks on the document.
Use the color picker to select values from the strokes you've just made.
It should begin to randomally assign values of hue and saturation to the strokes despite working completely in gray scale.
In my case since the hue initially is set to 0 at some point it will randomly change to 180 and begin adding slightly higher values of saturation.
Attached is a link to a video of the bug but I will paste the link here as well.

Please check whether a Tracing layer is enabled by any chance on one of the layers in the Layers panel. The letter "T" is displayed when Tracing is enabled. When Tracing is enabled, the rest of the layers pick the color from the Tracing layer.
turkus, please send us the layer you are able to reproduce this with. As a REB file.

Hi
i I am having the exact same problem- I have tried all the suggestions and nothing stops the grey colour.
i have also checked for tracing layer - I do not have any tracing layers.
The only way it stops happening is if I start a new canvas.
this is no good as I want to work on the canvas I have been working on.
please can you update about the progress on this bug.
thank you

Hi turkus,
After discussing the issue with the development team, it seems your issue happens because "Natural Colors" are enabled in the Edit menu. Please disable this option to see whether it helps.
They are made to shift colors to be more realistic, however there might be issues with greys.
kirstyor68 - please try to turn off Natural Colors as well to see if it helps. If not, please send us a short video of the issue: [url=mailto:

kirstyor68, the reason behind the "issue" was an active Tracing layer in the Layers panel.

Veronika, I wrote explicit and clear instructions to recreate the bug yourself.
SOLUTION: Go to the Edit menu and uncheck "Natural Colors". Mixing blue and yellow will still create green.

I found a solution for my case. I believe you guys ran into a greyscale problem.
Go to View> and make sure greyscale is checked off.
Hope this helps you guys and gals.
Great program btw. amazing watercolors.

Hi Shayna,
It would be great if you could maybe record a short video of this issue and send it over ([url=mailto:
]
), it would be most helpful.
If the video file is too large, you can send it via a free sharing service like WeTransfer:
