Brush lag

Greetings!
I'm not sure if this is Rebelle or me, nor if this is in the correct forum.
Symptom: When making a stroke, the software "pauses" after a certain distance (it varies a little but is generally not long) then completes the stroke to the new pen position.
Image setup: A4, 300PPI, white canvas at 100% scale.
Hardware: AMD 2950X, 128GB RAM, MSI RTX 4090, Huion Kamvas Pro 16" 4K
Tool: Just an 8B pencil at default size.
Given I have 16 cores/32 threads, I should have more than enough computing power to drive this setup. Perhaps I am mistaken.
Thoughts anyone?
TIA!
Jon

I tried A4 300dpi, 8B, it's flawless, no pause, hardware : 4670k (4 cores @ 3.4ghz), 16 GB, gtx 660, but huion kamvas 13 (1920x1080).

Jon,
On my Win11 Surface Studio laptop, I was having quite a bit of lag too. It is working fine now.
Make sure that windows is not going to an energy saving mode. I have an Nvidia RTX3050TI and it worked fine once I turned off the energy savings mode. It may be similar for your computer. Your computer is far more powerful than mine so it should work very well.
If Rebelle performance is being managed, set it to Performance. Let "windows decide" can also work fine buy keep it out of power saving mode.
I also have an older Win 10 machine with a GTX980M, 2GB and it runs fine too.
However the M2 Mac airbook is the fastest.

Make sure that rebelle is using the NVIDIA GPU

It shows Rebelle 6 above because it was a Beta version. I have the R7 release version now and it's fine.

@GlassCanvas
Thanks for the tip! Changing that setting, and setting the overall power plant to High Performance, improved things quite a bit, however, while the brush stroke is generally much longer, it still does the pause/draw to new pen position thing, and then the next draw is a shorter stroke before the pause/draw.
I also notice a speed issue - I can far outpace Rebelle 7. I tested this in Photoshop, which keeps up easily with the brush.
Given the longer stroke, I tried actually applying paint. Clearly happens there too.
I appreciate the help!
Jon
P.S. I also don't seem to have Nano Pixel turned on (the one place I found the setting shows it was not ticked).

Jon,
Another update, 7.0.1 was just released. Performance is very good. I did not set a performace setting specific to Rebelle 7 in System>Display>Graphics. I set the System>Power & Battery to Recommended. I could go faster but brushes are following fine.
Microsoft Surface studio laptop, Winn11 Pro, i7, 32GB, RTX3050T, 4GB.

@GlassCanvas - thanks for that, as I haven't found an update facility in Rebelle, I wouldn't have noticed that until told...
Unfortunately that didn't fix the issue - whether or one long stroke or a series of short strokes I'm still having the same problem where I can paint for a "block" and then it pauses. The amount of painting now seems to vary a little - sometimes quite a bit, other times only a few moments or a few strokes before that occurs.
I checked my performance whilst testing and note my processor is only pegging at about 6% max in Rebelle (all other processes are just idling), and GPU % is not reporting though the overall went as high as 50% at the point of lag.

Hi Jon
There is one thing we've recently discovered that can cause some stutters/ lags on machines that should be capable of running Rebelle just fine and it is vertical synchronization. We are still investigating this issue but in the meantime you could try disabling vsync for Rebelle using NVIDIA Control Panel (Manage 3D settings -> Program Settings -> Add Rebelle 7 -> Vertical sync off and hit apply).
Alternatively a video of this issue could help us here.

Thank you for responding. I made the suggested setting change and it didn't make any difference.
Here is a video showing what happens (doesn't matter what brush):

Thanks for the video, it seems like some pen positions are getting lost completely. To further examine the issue I would need to see a log containing tablet events, best accompanied by a similar short video to be able to match precisely the moment of the lag/skip with the log. To get that you can follow these steps:
1. Run Rebelle, then go to the Main Menu > Help > Show Library Folder... which opens a file explorer window. Go inside the 'Data/Log' folder there.
2. Close Rebelle, but keep the file explorer window open.
3. Start recording a video, it is enough to see the part of your screen where you will be painting.
4. Now, run Rebelle with the 'run_log_tablet.bat' file included in your Rebelle installation. It should be in 'C:\Program Files\Rebelle 7\run_log_tablet.bat'. For this session, Rebelle will log all tablet events.
5. Try to reproduce the issue, one or two occurences should suffice. Then close Rebelle and stop the recording.
6. A new file is stored in the "Log" folder. In the file explorer window, please zip the Log folder to a .zip file and send it to us at
along a video and a link to this thread.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the log, it would appear that there is either an issue with tablet settings or the tablet driver.
In general with Huion tablets we recommend using the Wintab option inside Rebelle's tablet preferences and unchecking "Use Ink" inside Huion's settings utility. Could you please check if this matches your settings?

@OP That hardware is more than sufficient to power this program, but with that said your CPU isn't even close to being on par with your GPU. I'd strongly recommend upgrading at some point in the near future.

@Pavol: Reinstalling the Huion driver seems to have cured the problem. Thanks for your assistance! If other programs had exhibited this same behavior, I would have done that much earlier.
@jasonbarron: Yes, the 4090 is way overkill compared to the processor. I picked up the card as in the future there will be an upgrade on the CPU side (unfortunately going to mandate a motherboard swap). That being said, it performs very well in my system - well enough for all the things I do.
