Congratulations to the entire Escape Motions team for these 10 years of exceptional experience! His talent and dedication have given life to tools that, as a Rebelle, manage to capture the essence of traditional painting and take it to the digital world with surprising naturalness. Thanks to their tireless work, artists have found in their programs a comfortable space and full of possibilities to explore and express our creativity. Not only are they professional developers, but they have managed to create a vibrant and generous community, where we can share doubts, concerns and inspire each other. I hope to continue walking together for many more years, promoting artistic creation and expanding the limits of imagination. Thank you, Escape Motions, for being a fundamental part of our artistic life!

I still can't believe a software like Rebelle exists. I like all digital art and design software, i on most of them, and i want to use all of these great apps more often. But i can't, i always miss Rebelle. It isn't because it's the best (well, it is the best for me). It's because it's features, the workflow, the constant enhancements, the Escape Motions staff and... i just can't leave Rebelle, even for a small amount of olf time. I appreciate very much the "wasy of Rebelle". It's focus is on artists, and giving them the best tools. Sometimes i feel Rebelle is a rara avis. Something i don't see in other software. A commitment. A savoir faire. And, best all, a lot of fun. I hope Escape Motions follow the same path in the next "escandalous huge amount of" years. Congratulations to all the team, both new and older. Also to all Featured Artists and Collaborators!

I like usimg rebelle for painting despite I am not skilled in painting in any media. It is funny to see images grow up on the screen, however they as best reach a medium level. Congrats to the team

Congratulations, Rebelle team on your ten-year anniversary. I Learned about Rebelle from Tim Shelborne while taking a class for Rebelle 2. I was always impressed with how realistic to traditional art media and really love seeing the growth through the years with Rebelle. I am looking forward to version 8. For my birthday wish is I would love to see added to Rebelle is brush history.

Congratulations Rebelle team. I have a short experience with Rebelle 7 but can't wait for Rebelle 8 to get released and try that one. I follow all the experts and coaches, even taken a course from Karen B to understand and prepare in anticipation of early launch of ver 8. Congrats again on 10th year anniversary!

A big congratulations to Rebelle, and especially Peter, for following his instincts and creating the first realistic watercolour engine. I have been with Rebelle since its first Beta version, when a fellow student brought it to the attention of us all at The Artist Quarter, headed by the amazing artist Time Shelbourne. He got hooked and held what must be one of the first classes on this software. Since the beginning it had a strong watercolor engine and year after year added features and a relatively easy way to learn digital painting. Well done, everyone! Looking forward to what you come up with going into the future.

Congratulations to the Rebelle team on their 10 years of innovations and creativity that have opened doors for many digital artists. I have experienced Rebelle 5 and now the latest Rebelle 7, which fascinated me especially with its metallic brush feature that few other programs can achieve so easily.Looking forward to inspiring each other with this new Rebelle 8.From the other side of the continent (Chile), greetings and success in your launch.

Congrats on making it to 10. I have only been using Rebelle for around two years but in that short time it has made vast improvements. Through the forum you can see how open the devs are to improvements and ideas from users(never loose this no matter how big you become, as I find this is something that is quite rare). My first experience with Rebelle was with version 1 or 2, which I got as part of a software bundle. I never really used it because it was only watercolor at the time. I also felt that it was more of a watercolor simulator than an art program, but what an impressive simulator it was. While I would like to dabble with digital watercolors someday, I mainly am interested in digital oils. I have tried almost every painting/drawing program that has been released since the 90's, and am still always on the lookout for something new. Since starting in digital art I have only settled on a handful of programs as my main workhorse. First was Corel Painter, then to Photoshop, and then to Clip Studio Paint. While all three got the job done, I never felt the joy of the act of painting. It felt more like a technical exercise. Enter Rebelle 6 with the newly added oils. From the very instant I tried the demo I immediately fell in love with the application of paint. I truly am enjoying the process of painting once again, and this is only with the oils. I haven't even touched any of the other mediums yet which is on my very long todo list. I also have faith (due to the above mentioned openness of the devs) that as time goes on it will only get better. Here's to another 10.

Congratulations to the entire Rebelle team for ten years!. I've been using Rebelle for my art since version 1 and couldn't be more happier with what you have done with it since then. As a matter of fact, I was a beta tester starting out with version 0.7 Every new version just blows me away with its capabilites. Can't wait to see what you have done in v8. Again, thanks, and keep up the good work.

Got my eyes on Rebelle since 3.0. I've been trying to find some natural media simulator at that time. Played with Verve Painter but never thought I can use it for serious work though. But Rebelle caught my eye, and in 5.0 I jumped in. Loved it but it was slow for my PC, so I figured I have to have a better PC to run it. Few years later I managed to buy a more modern GPU and I figured it's about time I fire up Rebelle again. At that time 7.0 was just released so I updated it. I've been having so much fun and enjoyment out of it. Maybe it's not everyone, but there is a sense of enjoyment in experiencing the marks a brush makes, and while I got this enjoyment from most digital drawing software like Photoshop, Paintstorm studio or Krita, having a more realistic mechanics to the brush marks is something I was missing a lot from traditional painting. That being said the purely technical side is really amazing. I was thinking of making a post on congratulating the programmers for the amazing performance they are achieving. Like in my recent project, the same document saved in PS is 140MB while in .rb is around 60MB. Brush marks work really well on around 6000x4000 pixel document. Photoshop is also kind of doing good, but for example Krita is really struggling, so I haven't used Krita for months now. I've been having issues with Nanopixel on that resolution, but the regular canvas is just killing it. I'm really happy and amazed at the performance achieved. Still I'm saving up for a better CPU...it's an 10 year old soldier that is now bottlenecking my more recent GPU.

Congratulations to the entire Escape Motions team on an amazing 10 years. I remember I found the first information about Rebelle on the CG Channel website, I downloaded the demo, it was some pre -release version, 0- something. And I fell in love. It was an amazing experience, that evening I couldn't stop painting and trying all the things. Since then Rebelle has been a constant companion in my artistic and professional journey. Thank to the entire Escape Motions team for that I look forward to the next 10( and more years) with Rebelle. Congratulations to the Escape Motions team. Over the last 10 years, you have created a fantastic painting software that now allows anyone, but really anyone, who wants to paint and draw but can't afford to run a professional artist's studio, to give free rein to their creativity in all areas of traditional painting. Rebelle is a complete artist's studio that leaves (almost) nothing to be desired. I also came to Rebelle through Tim Shelbourne's class and was fascinated by the watercolour simulation. Later I was also convinced by the other techniques, oil and dry media. Today I use Rebelle almost exclusively. My creative journey would not have been possible in this form without Rebelle. I'm sure the journey is far from over. My thanks for that!

Wonderful REBELLE, happy birthday. I had to wait a while before getting a decent computer and finally being able to buy Rebelle Pro_6. Since then, I've used it exclusively for all my artistic creations. As an easel painter, I struggled to feel comfortable with digital painting. I tried and used all sorts of software, either imposed during training or for experimentation. But there was never any FUN in painting, only constraints... until Rebelle 6 Pro and almost immediately version 7 and its metallic paints (oh so awesome) showcased by Karen Bonaker in her Klimt challenge. Being able to use watercolors that flow in the desired direction of the sheet is a real relief. It was always frustrating to resort to manipulating layer techniques to pretend, but Rebelle KNOWS IT, without having to turn the canvas, what a joy! The pencils, acrylics, and all the techniques are fabulous and always suit my way of painting. I am extremely satisfied, not only with the software but also with the team, who are always responsive, generous, and understanding. This investment is also fully part of the pleasure of using software, and it is a solid foundation to maintain for everyone's enjoyment. Congratulations on your 10 beautiful young years, and I wish you many more to come. Thank you.

I heard about this program shortly before rebelle 5 had a crazy sale, and ive been obsessed since first trying out the trial version. i'm a traditional painter and no other program has stacked up to perfectly and comfortably emulating the workflow and feel of traditional art! been using every single version since, nanopixel is life changing.

And you guys have fulfilled the promise and more. I looked at my files and turns out I have the .dmg files for every version. I'm jokingly known as an "art program slut" because I've used them all...Painter, PaintStorm Studio, CSP, Paint Tool Sai, Photoshop, Krita and more. A few years ago, one of my YT viewers commented on a Corel Painter video I'd done, asking if I'd tried Rebelle. I hadn't, but it wasn't long after that I snagged a copy from Humble Bundle and gave it a go. I was so pleasantly surprised at what I experienced. I absolutely love the unique way that Rebelle has the paint, paint and blend, smudge, and eraser options for all brushes. Such a genious way of doing it. I've also watched Rebelle get significantly better with each update, adding the coolest stuff like pigment mixing and metallic effects. It's honestly the one program that I'm MOST optimistic about for the future. It feels like it's being built thoughtfully from the ground up, and I really love that the team is pro-artist enough to stand against this AI nonsense that so many other programs are embracing. I don't know what's coming in version 8, but here's my wishlist:

Have more than 1 document open at a time
Be able to export and import whole brush categories/folders
The ability to add Hue/Saturation and Value jitter on brush strokes
Better transform (be able to resize, rotate, and distort without changing tools)
Be able to have bigger brushes. I currently have to go into Paintstorm Studio to paint big backgrounds.
Be able to copy a pressure curve from one brush to another
More compatible PSD format. If I take it a PSD saved from Rebelle into Paintstorm STudio, it's blank.
Particle Brushes
Hoping at least some of the above is coming soon. Thank you Escape Motions for your passion. You're doing great, and congrats on 10 years.

I never had any art training what so ever. I was looking for a hobby going into retirement and thought about digital art. Of course the main software most art tutorials used was that other software. I paid monthly, and while it was good it took a lot to get used to interface. the ONE big thing I did not like was that is was subscription and that I was locked into it. so I started exploring other software. I came across Rebelle, downloaded v6.5, it was robust, looked great and best of all I OWNED IT, no more renting. I found tutorials, loved how the paintings looked like the real thing. Watercolor simulator was first rate, it checked all the boxes I wanted: customizable and easy to use interface, tons of brushes and easy to create my own. the workflow of interface was very good and friendliness of staff and community sealed the deal.

I have been using rebelle for about.... I want to say since I found it in 2021. I found it through youtube. I have a familiarity with digital art, been doing it for over 12 years, but I've always been my best with traditional work. I was never satisfied with most emulations of traditional media, except for one program which was briefly shut down, and I always wanted more. more texture. better blending. better something. Enter me finding Rebelle through SSavva (iirc) and I got it on sale as fast as I could. GAME CHANGER. I still have 5, and support for the folks in college like myself has been nothing short of stellar. I will be fully honest. I am a very self critical person. I always feel like my art looks subpar. Tis the artist's fate, you will always be your worse critic-- but I felt so free with rebelle. It was like a middle ground for me. The versatility of digital art, with the limitations and ispirations I get from traditional work. My perfectionism is calmed, and mistakes feel purposeful when I make them. I use Rebelle for the emotional pieces I would never share with anyone else. Honestly, in an odd way even though I use it exclusively for personal use, it has substantially helped me mentally by giving me an environment I feel best in without the clean up. I feel like my art is more wet and alive and raw when I use it, and I use it for my personal diary entries. I would say the one thing I wish it had was compatibility with Clip Studio Paint, as I don't use photoshop. There have been many times where I wanted to take a piece I have sketched to the other program and couldn't make it work right. CSP doesn't like PSD files too much in my experience, and I wanted to animate some of my drawings. It would also be nice to be able to have more than one project open, or open projects in a reference window, so I can color match my character designs proper. And last but not least is maybe allow for people to create normalmaps and things to make 3d assets with their pieces, that way we can get a truly textured brush stroke. So happy birthday rebelle. And happy 10 years to this amazing team. You have made sure my room is less likely to be stained by spilled paint and turpentine. Thank you -Rook

Congrats on 10 years!! I don't know how I digitally painted without you guys before! I found out about Rebelle after watching a behind the scenes on Across the Spiderverse, and I purchased it immediately. I fell in love with the traditional settings and completely threw out adobe. That very year I was asked to do a big watercolor contract for the expansion of a game: Ring of Chaos, by Beadle & Grimm's. The watercolor, ink, and colored pencil characters I made for it were just stunning and the clients were over the moon with how real it looked. Rebelle has been my main software ever since and I never looked back. Thank you so much for this gorgeous painting software! You've upgraded my whole world! I discovered Rebelle back in the days of version 3, whose licence I happily purchased. Although I did not have a powerful PC, I was still able to appreciate its extraordinary qualities such as the simulation of materials and the interaction between brush and surface. I later wanted to try to buy version 7 in the hope of soon being able to replace my old computer, but some family misfortunes disrupted my life and reduced me to poverty. I had to say goodbye to this wonderful programme of which I have fond memories and which I am happy is enjoying the success it deserves. To Escape Motions my sincerest wishes for its 10th anniversary.

I actually found rebelle while searching for software that simulates traditional mediums on youtube. Honestly the best software i've ever used to emulate what I do traditionally. The craziest part is that its actually improved my traditional art too. And one of my favorite parts is that we get permanent ownership of the software! There aren't many companies that care about their customers like Escape Motions. Im definitely looking forward to the future updates of Rebelle. And I wish the team a happy anniversary and many more anniversaries to come!

Congratulations to the Escape Motions team for creating such an amazing software and fostering such a tight-nit community! I discovered Rebelle 5 by chance and I was intrigued by the watercolor simulation and it was the best thing I could have hoped for. I was already struggling to add realistic textures to my work and that problem has vanished since I started using Rebelle. Since then I've upgraded to each version in turn and it has become my painting software of choice. I absolutely adore the watercolor simulation and use that almost exclusively for everything I work on. It changed the way I view digital painting and everything I have tried before pales in comparison to how natural painting in Rebelle feels to me. Congratulations again! Looking forward to another 10 years of Rebelle! ?

I discovered Rebelle 3 several years ago. I used to play around with the demo material. I found it to be one of the most fascinating programs that simulated the realistic watercolor effect. At that time, drawing was just a hobby for me. With the release of Rebelle 4, I finally had the opportunity to purchase the program. I began to take art more seriously and began actively using it for my social media work as a content creator. I've been acquiring version after version, and it's become my favorite program for creating my art. Congratulations on all your effort and dedication. I hope to continue having the opportunity to work with your program for many more years to come, and I look forward to the progress of this beautiful project. Greetings and a big hug from Mexico.

Congratualtions and thank you Escape Motions for the awesome sofware! I came across Rebelle around the time of version 5. I was looking for an alternative to Corel Painter that 1) didn't feel like it was stagnating 2)had a compatible or better color and brush engine 3) Felt like a comfortable compromise between my traditional roots and convenience of digital art 4) Worked well enough for me as I swapped from dual booting with Linux to full-time usage to Linux. I felt like Rebelle met most if not all my essential requirements with the only drawback being pen pressure(which a community solution was later found to resolve) Since 5 I've been using it in my workflow and I've had nothing but praise for it since. For me it filled that want for a bridge between digital and traditional in a way that I wanted and hoped that Corel Painter was striving for. Most notably the real colours implementation you had has kept me as a continued user and the blending methods make me feel "at home". I have very little I can think of that I'd want more from Rebelle, but on my wishlist:

An official implementation to get pen pressure on Linux(because of course lol)
Little mroe refinement on Print preperation features(such as a cmyk preview)
Expansion of Typography options
I discovered Rebelle when it was first released. I was looking for painting software and was immediately seduced by its natural simulation of different techniques. Incredible improvements have been added over the years. I've enjoyed using every version. I'm a self-taught artist and I've always taken my time, which allows me to enjoy and experiment (a lot). I don't show the results of my experiments very much. Each attempt proves to me that Rebelle contributes to helping me express myself artistically. - I wish Rebelle many years of creative improvements. - May they help to express all those emotions that only visual art through a human can do, while combining natural techniques and computer technology. - That I want more and more to show the incredible emotions through Rebelle. Happy 10th anniversary Rebelle and thank you Escapemotions.

I think I found about Rebelle by a random post in Twitter. It's a bit hard to get used to it since i have my workflow in other programs and cannot do the same moves as fast as I'm used to do. But something that makes Rebelle so unique and it's what made me purchase it, was the watercolors. I love watercolors with a big passion, the textures really fills my heart. And finding out that oil painting in Rebelle was also an unique experience in digital media, was a real bonus. I have been waiting for Rebelle 8 for my paintings and want to play with the new features it will offer.

Shocked that it's been so long! I found Rebelle around version 3. I've upgraded with each version as it quickly surpassed my other art programs. I absolutely love how rebelle feels when drawing and painting. It's become my number one app! In fact, Rebelle has been a driving factor in keeping me off the ipad. A few wish list items: 1. A "View at Print Size" option. Please! Look at how clip studio implemented this for ideas. 2. The ability to move objects by holding down the "ctrl" key (similar to photoshop). That means being able to map ctrl to this function. 3. More ability to customize the "tablet mode". For example, I'd love to be able to hit "tab" on the keyboard to have the layout change to a customized tablet layout that has only a few specified panels docked to the left hand side of the screen. Exiting tablet mode would go back to the normal layout that I use.

I honestly don't remember where I was when I found you but it was probably at YouTube. I have always used YT for tutorials and for checking out my other art programs, but I knew that I was INSTANTLY smitten! It was more than four years ago and I am so appreciative for the ongoing interest and dedication you all have for this wonderful art form! Knowing I have Escape Motions to help me make art makes me feel as if I've saved myself a lot of distress and aggravation because I hate shopping. SO, you have assisted me in buying all sorts of art supplies and I haven't had to drive or read or spend endless hours doing research on anything because it's ALL RIGHT HERE! I love to paint, real paint. I also love digital art! I used to do a lot of 'tradigital' art but now, it's all done with this superb art program called Rebelle 7 Pro and I can not thank you enough! I've sold many items online at my greeting card and various products 'POD' shops and I owe so much of it to YOU! When I get an idea that I want to create it is so relaxing and enjoyable to sit down, sip my tea and play art with you! One of the most rewarding programs is Inspirit because I absolutely adore making kaleidoscopes! Mesmerizing and beautiful and truly a fantastic art program that soothes me when I use it! Thank you all! Happiest birth day anniversary and many more to come! Your avid fan, Cherie:love:

I discovered Rebelle in January 2017, one of the very first versions! I was looking for brushes with a more realistic, watercolour feel, and that’s when I came across this wonderful program. I bought it instantly and fell in love. The textures, the simulations... It felt like discovering a hidden gem, I couldn’t believe it. I still remember when they added the option to save in PSD format! As more brilliant features were introduced, my poor old Surface started to struggle with the memory and resources the program needed. I kept using it over the years and watched it grow, buying every version I could. I grew too, eventually becoming a computer vision and deep learning engineer. These days I have a bit more understanding of what might be going on behind the scenes in terms of programming and feature development, although I’m sure there’s much more to it than I realise. Nowadays I teach at university, and I always recommend this tool whenever I can to our young artists and game developers. Looking forward to many more years of creativity with Rebelle!

Congratulations on your 10th Birthday. I'm relatively new to Rebelle, starting at 7. My use of Rebelle in probably not the usual use, I just draw squiggly lines curves, dots and dashes in all media and am loving it. I think I need to explain, I am a trained fine art textile artist with a problem - I am unable to imagine or think when I want to do art, I have Aphantasia, the inability to imagine, my artistic brain stopped working with illness 30 plus years ago. I had heard of Rebelle for many years but was not sure as with my illnesses it felt like I could be wasting my time and money, OMG how wrong I was, I still am having my artistic issues but at last I have found a software in Rebelle 7 that has caught my attention and is giving me the occasional spark of artistic awareness that I lost all those years ago. Thank you for a top notch application, my life has changed, I am starting too feel like an artist again - a long road ahead but one that's looking brighter.

I think I discovered it in a humble bundle. Back then the water color emulation was the selling point, in later versions the brush creator is what kept me interested. Beeing able to combine multiple shapes and grains in single brush in particular opened a lot more freedom than what other paint softwares offer. My anniversary birthday wish would be to continue 10 more years of Escape Motions success story with Rebelle.

The only thing I’ve ever wanted to do with myself since I was a kid is make art and so I’ve spent my whole life making art; I especially love painting. When I was in my early twenties I suffered a traumatic brain injury that left my disabled. I had to relearn basically all of the skills I’d spent my entire life learning all over again. Including painting. Oil painting was a bit tricky to relearn - I found the fundamentals again but oil painting is a time consuming endeavor and involves enough prep work that oftentimes I was already exhausted by the time I had my palette and my surface prepared. I could paint, but not nearly as often as I wanted to. Someone suggested I switch to digital and so I got a drawing tablet and a copy of photoshop - and it worked but it just wasn’t the same. Colors worked differently, it was hard to make things with a painterly texture and while it was certainly better than nothing it was still a far cry from the process of oil painting that I fell in love with when I was a kid. Then I happened across Rebelle. Right when version 7 was about to release. And it’s amazing - I can play with texture, I can play with colors - I can paint, actually paint without all the preparation necessary that would sometimes exhaust me. And my artwork has flourished. Rebelle has everything but the comforting smell of oil paints. Rebelle has helped me fall in love with oil painting all over again; made with the same sort of love I have when I make my art. I am endlessly grateful for its existence and for the people who make it. Thank you for helping me make art again the way I’ve always wanted to

My personal story of discovering Rebelle; I was approached on Instagram by the Slovak artist Zsofia Dankova, who's a great inspiration of mine. Her heavy metal artwork for bands like Powerwolf and Elvenking are incredible, and she shares my enthusiasm for art, with a special fondness for the Italian Baroque and Renaissance periods. Since I started using Rebelle, I've been loving its natural media simulation, easy-to-use interface, and great brush engine. It's been a game-changer for me, letting me try out new techniques and push the limits of digital painting, and it allows me to create digital sketches that can serve as transfer drawings for my actual oil paintings, streamlining the creative process! I've also been creating some custom digital brushes that I share for free on my ArtStation shop. If you're an artist looking to add some extra texture and expressiveness to your digital work, or just want a tool that's both powerful and easy to use, I'd definitely recommend checking out Rebelle. Congradulations Team on the 10th birthday of Rebelle I discovered Rebelle right after the Corona epidemic. At that time I was working analoge. When our government announced that there would be a lockdown I was working on an illustration for a magazine. The deadline was tight and because of the lockdown I could not leave my studio to go home, so I had to stay overnight working around the clock. I made the deadline but I was exhausted. I was too dependent on my studio. Things needed to change. The solution was to work digital so I could basically work anywhere. But my digital work should look exactly the same as my analog work. I am fluent in Photoshop and with some tweaks I came close to mimic my acrylic drybrush style. But Photoshop does not have a 3D engine (anymore) so my work would still look ‘flat’. Procreate and all the other tools on iPad also could not replicate my analoge work. When I found Rebelle while searching for a solution I downloaded the demo and was instantly impressed. Finally a digital tool that actually mimics analog paint in a very realistic way. I can’t wait to try the new impasto brushes and shader function in my work. Last week I completed a magazine cover for a well known Dutch publication that was made entirely in Rebelle.

A few days ago, a dear friend gave me a SAMSUNG Galaxy laptop as a gift. When I saw its hardware specifications, I immediately wanted to try installing my copy of Rebelle 7 Pro and see the difference compared to my very old PC. When I saw how I could paint quickly with the oil brushes and the real-time effect of watercolor paints, I burst into tears of joy. Despite knowing Rebelle since its early versions, this was the first time, at 64 years old, that I saw in action the wonders this program is capable of. Even now it feels like I'm living a dream. I had already resigned myself to having to abandon Rebelle due to the limitations of my old PC, and now instead, I'll have the possibility to see what other wonders await us with Rebelle 8. Sorry for this outpouring, but the joy is so great that I couldn't hold back from writing this comment.
