Hi there I was just wondering if Inspirit was still being actively developed/maintained and if there will be any more updates in the future? Thanks in advance.
Hi there I was just wondering if Inspirit was still being actively developed/maintained and if there will be any more updates in the future? Thanks in advance.
I wouldn't bet on anything happening there anymore. It's more or less the same with FlamePainter. Seems Escape Motion either doesn't have the development resources, or the sales figures weren't good enough. That's bad for those who bought the apps, i own both and Rebelle. In my eyes i see it as quite user-unfriendly that there's no official information about the status of development. After all, the apps are still being sold even though there haven't been any updates or further development for years. Anyway, I gave up waiting for something there and looked elsewhere instead. If you're interested in symmetrical designs: Take a look at the "Black Ink" app (Windows only). Its unique approach with node layers offers far more possibilities than "Inspirit" ever will. It doesn't have an animation feature and might look a bit more complicated, but it's worth it; I highly recommend it. Here a Video

It does look like interesting software, but until it is multi-platform, it’s not an option for me. Thanks anyway.
I think they consider a mac version, but i dont know when this will be happen. So, it seems you on a Mac. The only Bitmap/Raster graphics option for Mac i know is ClipStudioPaint Pro you could get it for 49.- Euro one time fee. CSP have Symmetrie Layers you could use more then one Sym Layer it also have Vector Layers which you could use with Symmetrie Layers too. You could search on youtube for more Infos Apart from that, there is iOrnament a nice App on iPad. And vector graphics based (everything stays editable) Apps for Mac Paragraphic (Mac and Win) and Patternnodes 3 (Mac only) from "Lost Minds Software" As i do mainly vector graphics, i own paragraphic and like it. Both are, a bit like Black Ink, Node based. Which may a bit complex at first sight but offers a lot of flexibilitie. Rebelle by Escape Motions can import .SVG files (vector graphics) as rulers. These vector graphics apps can export designs as .SVG files. Since all most all of Rebelle brushes follow such a ruler, this allows for some unique symmetry designs.

I wasn’t really looking for any other apps, as I have way too many at the moment, but yes, mainly macOS and iOS (iPhone & iPad) based, but also have Android phone (Pixel) I already own iOrnament, Paragraphic, Patternodes, Vectoraster. All very good apps. I also have OmniGeometry (Mac & Windows) and One Mandala (iOS and Android). These are both excellent apps and I would recommend you take a look. I’ve also been testing Nodalin, which as it’s name suggests, is node based also. There are so many great apps out there, and Inspirit was/is one of them, even if it is raster based. Even if it is just kept up-to-date to run on newer systems when they become available, I’ll be happy enough. But it would have been nice to see some more active development of Inspirit.

I wasn’t really looking for any other apps ... Understand, no Problem. Other users reading this thread might be happy about the alternatives, including the ones you mentioned. …It would have been nice to see more active development of Inspirit… Yes, that's a shame. As I already wrote, I own Inspirit and love it because of the brushes and the animation function. I'm also one of many who really appreciate FlamePainter and I'm very sorry that it's no longer being developed. It's also not bug-free and would need an update to fix these issues. That's why I don't find it particularly customer-friendly that both apps are still being sold. Not to mention that Escape Motion let buyers are left in the dark about whether anything will happen with it. Thanks for your tips, I'll take a look at them when I have the chance. I'm on a PC (Windows) but I also have an iPad (iOS).

I had been in touch with support about another matter, and asked if there were any plans for future development of Inspirit and received the following reply… "Sure, we'd like to continue developing Inspirit. However, at this time, we don’t have a concrete timeline for it." So there may be some hope in the future, but I won’t be holding my breath.

Am I really supposed to waste time and energy constantly hoping something will happen? Seriously ?

I currently run the app on MacOS, but it is one of those apps that the OS warns will not open in future versions of the OS. I have enjoyed this app over the years. It would be nice to have improved functionality, however I hope they provide at least an update to allow it to continue to run on silicon.

@spaced2021 I forgot to post back here as I had asked support to change my email earlier in the year and also asked them if there was any chance that Inspirit would be updated in the future, and here is the reply I received…
Sure, we'd like to continue developing Inspirit. However, at this time, we don’t have a concrete timeline for it. Our current development priority is Rebelle, where we’re actively delivering ongoing updates and new features. Thank you for your patience and continued interest in our software; we truly appreciate it.
So hopefully there is some compatibility update coming at some point, if not further development.
I will definitely not wait and I will not expect anything and I would think very carefully and for a long time about whether I would buy a new version, if one ever comes out. Not after these two apps haven't been developed further for so many years without any explanation. Okay, there was an explanation, but why did we have to ask for it? Then both apps are still being sold without any indication that there are currently no updates and what the future holds? That doesn't seem very customer-friendly to me.
