I have a few brushes I created in Rebelle 8 that I would like to send to some people who have an earlier version of Rebelle. Is there a way to convert Rebelle 8 brushes for use in earlier Rebelle versions? I know I could strip the PNG metadata and crop the PNG itself for the shape, but that would not retain any of the settings. And the people I am sending to are really not experienced with the Brush Creator.

Yes, there is a way but it involves editing every single preset file you want to import and there is no guarantee that the preset will behave the same when imported into older Rebelle versions. For example a bristle brush will turn into a texture brush and loose its bristles when imported into R7. If you still want to try it, I would first recommend creating a backup of the preset first as a bad edit can completely break it. Then you can use something like tweakPNG to view and edit its parameters. There will be a chunk with a "Parameters" key , inside of it look for "version" and change its value to something lower, for example from 807 to 700 to be able to open R8 preset in R7.

I'll give that a try. the "Parameters" info [I]is[/I] the important info I need. I can check by importing to R7 since I still keep it around, and adjust as needed. [SIZE=6](y)[/SIZE]

However the further back you go the more things will stop working. Also note that once a preset is opened in Rebelle expect it to override the version and also discard any parameters that are not known to it, for example opening bristle brush in R7 will remove any parameters related to bristles.
