Rebelle 8 brush developed a streaky stroke I cannot figure out how to fix

I have shared here 3 images: the line quality before, the stokes I see now, and the bush shape I'm using. The line quality I [I]was[/I] seeing contained no visible lines that would feel almost line a rake. Something changed between sessions and now the same tool with the same settings produces a very streaky line quality. The shape itself has some kind of texture in the fade that appears much more tame when I the brush is at a large size; but, at a smaller size the rake-like texture isn't just odd its jarring. I feel like I fat-fingered a setting though I've gone through the brush creator several times and checked textures, grains, papers, and smudging. Huh, that [I]is[/I] super weird. I'd normally assume something like...the Grain accidentally being switched to Follow or Stretched (with the slider up high), with Smudge also on. But the way the "rake" lines fan out at the end of the strokes, while the stroke width itself is unchanged, baffles me. It sort of looks like a bristle brush ghosting within it. If it's not any of those settings, then...after restarting Rebelle, I'd try selecting back and forth between that and different brushes, including bristle ones, just to see if something somehow got "stuck" (and hoping that switching around nudged the program to unstick it). Also, seeing whether it happens after restoring Rebelle's default settings (as Veronica described in a reply to [URL='https://www.escapemotions.com/community/forum/t/45232/brush-lag-using-water-brush/']this thread[/URL]).
