Ribbon in FP4 vs FP3: dithered dots instead of trailing mesh

I own the full Flame/Follow/Ribbon bundle in FP4 (purchased, not demo). In FP3, the Ribbon particle system — Ribbon Green preset, Darken blend, low opacity, slow deliberate cursor movement — produced a texture I can only describe as a mesh of fine continuous lines: threadlike, crossing at all angles, building density through overlapping accumulation rather than through any single bold mark. Color from underlying layers showed through in the gaps where the mesh thinned. No visible start/end points on individual lines — they trail off rather than terminate. It read as organic, almost like torn fabric or fine scratching, never as discrete particles. In FP4, the same Ribbon system (same preset name, same settings where available) reads as dithered — discrete points/marks scattered by the brush, regardless of stroke speed. The continuous trailing quality is gone. Escape Motions' own material confirms Flame/Follow/Ribbon were "completely rewritten" for FP4, not ported. Is the mesh/trailing behavior I'm describing simply gone from the new implementation, or is there a settings path (span, particle count, blend mode stacking) that can recover it?

Hi @erkang, I think the closest match to the effect you're describing would be Amber or Amber 2 from the Ribbon particle system in Flame Painter 4. You could try applying the Brush Creator settings from one of those presets to the brush of your choice and see if it gets you closer to the look you're after. That said, as you already noted, the particle systems in Flame Painter 4 were completely redesigned rather than ported from Flame Painter 3. Because of that, some of the characteristic behaviors and effects from FP3 are unfortunately no longer possible to reproduce exactly in FP4.
