Yes, you read well. Amberlight 2 is coming. And yes, it will feature an animation mode!

Your wishes come true, the most user-suggested feature is being developed and will be released in the next upgrade. We felt that Amberlight with an animation mode will be really cool, so we ran a lot of tests and trials, have completely rewritten the code, added a new Timeline panel and a lot of useful features. Finally, our development is slowly coming to an end. We are very excited about the release, current beta test results are awesome. These days we are still polishing details, so you have to wait a bit to get the fresh new Amberlight 2.
We’d like to release Amberlight 2 on March 8, 2016. The price of the full version is $59.99. For all dedicated Amberlight users we prepared a special 50% upgrade discount:
Full price: $59.99 | Upgrade price: $29.99
This means that existing users only pay the price difference between versions. This way we ensured that no user of the original Amberlight pays more than is the regular price of Amberlight 2.
Besides the animation, there will be more special features such as field modifiers so you can experiment with different variations and add unique wave effects to the final look. We also added undo & redo functions and made editing of the fields more creative. You can select more fields, duplicate them, copy their parameters, or lock them to the grid to create symmetric images easier.
Watch a short teasing video:
More information about the newly added features will be released next week here on our blog so make sure you don’t miss out!

I just bought Amberlight last week. If I had known that you had a new version, I wld have waited a few weeks.
Will I have to lay out more cash to get the upgrade?
Hi Angelique,
thanks for your message. No worries, existing users can upgrade for only the price difference between versions ($59.99 - $29.99): $29.99. We wanted to give every 1.x user a fair discount and make sure that users of Amberlight 1 will not pay more for the upgrade than is the actual price of Amberlight 2.
Congrats to Amberlight on the new upgrade! Looking forward to it very much!
Great news! This is looking like a must have upgrade and a probable breakthrough into a much larger user base too. Sound is a possible interest, but I feel there are so many ways available to blend sound and moving images together that it will be used with various sound sources anyway - sure a sync with sound may hold particular appeal in the same way as we have had for generations with disco lighting, but I would hope to see more development in blending multiple Amberlight animations to create some spectacular effects.
Possible to add sound, all animation base on sound? Awesome!
At this moment it is not possible to add sound within an application, but think to add it in the future.
These guys mix random video generator with audio:

Hopefully 4K / MP4 / MOV / Youtube export ? Anyway, looking forward to the new release and the additional features along with the animation sound great - it is a feature I would love to see in most apps so I can then combine them in different ways into After Effects.
Yes 4K works nicely. We will see which codec will be available in final release.
thanks. As someone else pointed out, audio would be a great addition as a means to manipulate the positions of the fields, size of the various controls etc (hopefully for a version 3?) Even if sound is not actually included in the resulting animation, that can always be added at a later point in AE etc
Hey Guys! OMG! I Knot what I have to do on the realese Date! You really don't know how much I need this now!
But I have some questions: Like Silvia would it be very nice to know, wich file typs, quality and size.
For me: Wich Commercial uses are allowed? - I am working on an Video Overlay Bundle, wich you can buy and I think, there would be some amazing affects as Overlays.
Commercial use is allowed, everything you create with the application can be used for commercial or non-commercial projects. At this moment we are testing codecs, so we see which will be available, it depends also on codec licences. It will be possible to export to image sequence with alpha channel too.
Looks cool! Will we get the upgrade price if we bought Amberlight as part of a MacHeist bundle? I think it was MacHeist anyway..
Every user which has Amberlight can upgrade to version 2 for the discount price.
Liking the sound of this! What file types will the animation be exported to? And what quality?
Hi Silvia, these days we are testing codecs, which will be available in the final release depends also on codec licences. Users can set the quality of video. It will be possible to export animation as image sequence with alpha channel and then compose the sequence in 3rd party application.
