Touch the Master Challenge: The Winner Announced

A- | A+

In the past weeks, we have seen painters participate in the Touch the Master challenge. We have received wonderful digital reproductions and we believe the artists enjoyed the process. Today, we are happy to share the best artworks with you.

Shortly after we introduced the new Oils in Rebelle, an art educator and an expert for traditional art media, Lubomir Zabadal, has decided to try reaching the fascinating canvas of Vincent van Gogh digitally. He shared with our readers the painting process in a blog. You can read about it here: “How to Touch Vincent van Gogh with Oils in Rebelle 4”.

Our team has decided we would like to see more traditional paintings being reproduced digitally. That is the reason behind the Touch the Master Challenge. We challenged artists to use Rebelle's new oils and reproduce their favorite traditional painting. Here are some of the best artworks we have received:

Winning Artwork: “Wheat Field with Cypresses” by Elisabetta Petroni

We believe the most interesting reproduction of the traditional painting in our challenge is “Wheat Field with Cypresses” by Elisabetta Petroni. The color and shape fidelity and relaxed painting handwriting are very pleasing. Therefore, we have decided this would be the winning artwork and its author will be rewarded with a $100 credit to our shop
Compare it to “Wheat Field with Cypresses”, an original painting by Vincent van Gogh, 1889 (below).

2nd Place: "Mädchen die Haare Flechtend" by Janie Molard

Another high-quality painting has been a reproduction of  "Mädchen die Haare Flechtend" by Janie Molard, however, the composition of the original painting has not been fully preserved.Compare it to the original painting "Mädchen die Haare flechtend” by Albert Anker, 1887 (below).

3rd Place: "Gesellschaft im Park" by Elizabeth Pruemm

Although some details from the original painting were missing in the reproduction, we really enjoyed the freshness of Walter Heimig's painting by Elizabeth Pruemm.

Compare it to the original "Gesellschaft im Park" painting by Walter Heimig, 1881-1955 (below).

If interested, you can find all artworks participating in the challenge here.

We would like to thank all participants and congratulate the winner! We are looking forward to seeing more artworks like these in the future.
